A well-designed pilot answers specific questions: which PFAS are retained, for how long, at what flow and at what cost. A removal percentage without operating conditions is insufficient for design.
We start with the water profile
We collect analytical results for individual PFAS with detection and quantification limits, average and peak flow, and a description of existing treatment. Variations in quality, particles, organic matter and salts also matter.
We agree the objective
Before testing, we define target compounds, acceptable outlet concentrations, sampling points and operating conditions. For wastewater, we check whether additional pretreatment is needed.
We also monitor breakthrough
Initial efficiency does not establish media service life. Monitoring the outlet, treated volume and pressure drop provides a basis for replacement intervals and system sizing.
We translate results into a design
We use the data for technical design and a comparable cost calculation. We also plan collection and further treatment of spent media, since binding PFAS to media does not destroy them.
